Walking... stalking... Score! |
Annyeong! Yes, I've been a little quiet of late. Busy life, being sick, having company, and most of my writing time devoted to what is gearing up to becoming [hopefully] one of my favorite dramas this year! Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo, or Mischievous Kiss as DramaFever is calling it.
Here are a couple of my latest posts from the last few weeks. Btw, can I just say: Thank you, Japan for seriously testing my patience by making me wait TWO whole weeks between eps 5 and 6? If you wanted to kill me, it nearly worked. Yours Truly, Rosie.
- Playful Kiss vs. Mischievous Kiss (Only a slight comparison through ep 5)
So who's watching this [totally awesome!] drama?
Oh, I like this show. I've seen way too many versions of it to find the story that exciting anymore, but I really like how they've done this one. The pace is good, the girl isn't annoyingly stupid, and the acting is solid. This is also pretty much the only show I can keep up with now that I have to study for my exams.
ReplyDeleteYes, the story is a no-brainer at this point (and I've only seen the Korean version to compare), but it's still a cute synopsis in its origin - which technically makes it more than watchable for me. And I just can't help loving all the characters this time around.
DeleteYes, the actors/actresses are very convincing in their roles, and I enjoy watching this drama because there is a quirky yet realistic side to all of the characters. One thing that has always been bugging me, however, regardless of the actors/actresses and the execution of this drama, is Irie. I find him to be an extremely unlikeable character, I always have to grit my teeth whenever Kotoko fantasizes about him. (What does she see in a guy like him?! Why is she being so submissive? I can hardly call that love, it's more like a master-slave relationship.) Props to Furukawa Yuki for playing a character like Irie. He really brought him to life. I love his acting but boy, I just cannot come to accept his character.
ReplyDeleteNaoki's character is a hard one to pull off, just because it can be so alienating to watch. I don't doubt I would hate a guy like that in real life, and if it was my friend that I had to watch swooning over him, I would be lecturing her and attempting to give great advice to just 'stop it!!' however this being a drama... siiigh. Unfortunately it's true to what so many romance stories try to portray love as: one-sided, until that 'perfect' man of your dreams turns around and *shock* notices you and your humble ways.
DeleteI agree though he can be very mean, and it's only because he's a drama character that I give him any leeway. Have you seen ep 7 yet? I was hoooraying for him AND concerned about how outwardly mean he seems - at the same time!! Major! props to the actor who making me not hate him.
Yea, I'm all caught up now! It's getting a little better, but even after their cute scene of them together on a date it's still slightly hard to believe that he's actually going to fall for her just b/c she's so in love with him and he seems to be...err...well, heartless as usual and so ever amazed by her stupidity. Haha I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
